TAP No. 3 - Telecommand Story

Announces a price increase and prints YIPL’s formal Statement of Purpose, describing itself as a non-profit clearinghouse for information the phone company and mass media won’t spread. Solicits current and former Bell employees for insider tips on company practices. ‘The Private Ear’ exposes the ‘Telecommand’ remote wiretap device sold to law enforcement, and reprints Senate testimony from Southwestern Bell security supervisor Arthur S. Brewster (questioned by Sen. Edward Long) about telephone company cooperation with FBI wiretaps. Warns subscribers they are likely under FBI observation.
