TAP No. 87 - The Great Fire of '83

Cheshire Catalyst recounts a real crisis at TAP: editor Tom Edison’s apartment, which doubled as the newsletter’s office, was professionally burglarized in mid-1983 with the computer, disk drives, printouts, and backups all stolen, followed by an apparent amateur arson attempt on the apartment. With TAP’s mailing list and financial records gone, the piece asks subscribers who know someone else’s subscription to help verify the mailing list, and announces that TAP is relocating to a dedicated office space and will begin shipping all issues in plain envelopes for discretion, plus registering an ISSN for the publication as a formal serial.
