Computer Hacker's Accomplice Gets Probation
This UPI wire report covers Lenny DiCicco’s guilty plea, entered July 24, 1989, to a charge of permitting Kevin Mitnick unauthorized use of a computer at DiCicco’s Calabasas workplace in December 1988 — access Mitnick used, along with stolen telephone codes, to break into Digital Equipment Corporation’s systems and steal proprietary security software.
DiCicco, who had cooperated with federal investigators during the case, was sentenced to probation and community service rather than prison.
